Does anyone really care if Farah gets this? The one hour record is extraordinarily inferior to the half marathon record. The current record would be 59:28 half marathon pace. 59:28 is currently tied for #80 all time. I would say that anything less than a 58:32 split for the half (just sneaking into #3 of all time) and he should feel ashamed for making a big deal over meaningless records.
In your PR half-marathon could you have kept going at near the same pace for another 1/4 mile? If you could you were doing it wrong.
Track vs. road is another consideration I think you are missing. The current record holder for the 1 hour run also held the 1/2 marathon record (first sub 59 clocking) and is one of the all time distance running greats. I feel like you don't like Farah (I don't either) and you think he is going to beat this so you want to diminish the record ahead of time which is a slap in Haile G.'s face. If Farah beats it, fine, whatever. I don't have to like him and you don't either and this race may be rarely run but Haile is still an all-timer and beating any of his records deserves some kudos.
All that said I don't see any way Farah breaks this record.
