I am in base week 7, preparing for 800m track. However, this week I'm very slow, I took a down week at base week 5. I am running 4.2 miles everyday. These are my theories:
1. 83f is too hot to run
2 My body can't handle 29 miles per week
3 Increasing mileage by 20 percent every week is wrong
29 mpw isn't enough to build a strong base. If you really want to have long-lasting aerobic adaptions, you need to train more than 4 hours a week, even if it's cross-training.
83F will have a massive effect on your pace. How much, depends on the following factors:
- your height and weight
- how acclimated you are to heat
- your hydration levels and glycogen stores
- if you are a heavy sweater or not
- whether you are a strong of weak runner in the heat
Everyone will be slower in 83F compared to 50F, but there is a large deviation depending on all the factors mentioned above.
