how am I supposed to handle this?
all of the life I am losing - I will never get that time back.
and then I feel selfish for complaining because I am in my late 20s and very unlikely to die from corona

What are you depressed over?
Use the time for things you wouldn't do otherwise. Read a book, listen to some podcast, learn to cook or start knitting.
Chances are you have 50 more years to live.
i feel these are probably my fittest years and I'm not able to race during them
Dude it’s been a few months. Imagine living through something actually hard like war or famine. If anything use this time to make yourself mentally stronger.

Where do you live? Most places have lifted total lockdowns.
Start the day off on a positive note. Go for a run. Get some sunlight. In 6 months there will likely be a viable vaccine (there will likely be even more effective treatments available before then). You have plenty of years until you get old and have to worry about everything. I spent all of my twenties in predominantly social isolation anyhow (running, doing triathlons, climbing mountains, fishing remote lakes, kayaking lakes and rivers, etc.). There are plenty of great things to do still.

That’s like telling someone not to be happy, because imagine doing something actually fun like winning Olympic gold or getting to walk on the moon.

You are probably right about that.
But you also could be injured right now from too much training.
Anyway, if you want to be productive for your running here are a couple of suggestions:
1. Learn to cook, I am totally serious about this, if you can prepare your own nice yummy meals you will do yourself and your running a favor for the next 50 years.
2. Learn some yoga/ stretching routines
3. Learn something about running (Books, youtube) There more you know the better you can be
and of course
4. Get your butt outside and go for a run.
Soon you will hit some new PR's.

It was supposed to be a few weeks while we "flattened the curve".
We are now nearly four months into this shutdown nonsense and are being prepared to expect it to last for God knows how many more months. And then, a "new normal".
i agree with all of the suggestions about cooking, yoga, studying, etc and continuing training. trouble is, im doing all of them - they help, but i am still struggling mentally.
