One more thing I thought of - I've seen successful stores offer more runs from the store for beginner types than for competitive runners or sub elites. Things like 3-6 miles at what most of us would consider a pretty slow pace. This may get more people in than having workouts, idk. I thought it was good for a store to have a group that starts from there for weekend long runs and a weeknight track workout, but the store in my area that did that ended up going out of business and the one that held hobby jogger runs, as well as a track night each week, is still going.
