Hi JS, I stumbled upon some social media posts of yours, and in 2015 it sounded like you were just starting to get serious about coaching (I think you posted that on lydiards page. Anyway, what were you up to career-wise prior to that?
I quit serious elite training when age 40 . Then I married at age 44 and lived family life and just jogged now and then. Then at age 53 I tried to help my ex launch her book "Flor de Cactus" at facebook and I got interested again to write about runnng and coach other runners. I wrote a lot at a Norwegian running fb group and asked if there were runners interested to be coached by me. One Norwegian guy took up the challenge and in just 2 ½ month I coached him to PB:s at 1500m, 3000m, 10 k , half marathon and crown of that coaching, a PB at marathon from 2:40 down to 2:27:30. I still work fulltime as a teacher since 35 years now, but of course I dream of coaching at fulltime .
My own training now make progress and I feel my endurance will come back quite fast. Today I ran/ walked 1 hour 45 min total and I did easy runs at a ladder way .... 5 min - 5 min -4 min -3 min- 2 min - 1 min - 5 min - 4 min -3 min - 2 min with long walks between. My breathing is calmer and I can run a little longer. Good to see progress.
