I don't know how to phrase this without coming off as rude, so I won't bother trying: you are part of the problem because the problem is that an unfathomably high number of people are trying to politicise this situation.
A political party is not responsible for the appearance of coronavirus. You can complain all you like about how "party X did Y which caused Z" and claim it's all a big conspiracy, and guess what? You'll have done nothing to improve your situation, nor that of anyone else. You can complain all you like that "politician X didn't do Y and now Z," and guess what? You'll have done nothing to improve your situation, nor that of anyone else. Trying to place blame or play stupid political games has no benefit and several potential ramifications. This isn't about politics, this is about science and logic, which sadly seems to be lost on a lot of people.
The guidelines didn't "go out the window" when riots started, mind you. The reason you've heard less about them lately is that the media has moved on to the next big thing that they think will get their outlets attention, which is the protests. The guidelines are still being stressed by medical professionals who realise that the mass gatherings of people, only some of whom wear masks, is likely going to become extremely problematic. Hopefully the people attending protests are asymptomatic/immune and won't get seriously sick, but that's honestly the best-case scenario because in most cases (as far as I've seen), people at protests aren't very focused on social distancing or other precautions.
Social distancing is not a political statement. Wearing a mask is not a political statement. Washing your hands is not a political statement. Listening to qualified scientists and medical professionals in the midst of a pandemic is not a political statement.
In case anyone reads this and wants a reliable source of information featuring the input of highly-qualified medical professionals with real experience in disease control and prevention, here's a link to the website for the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, which has more details about the coronavirus pandemic and protective measures:

Stay safe everyone, listen to professionals and not politicians.
