Wow, I just looked at the all-time lists and I forgot that Silas Kiplagat ran 3:27.64 in 2014 (age 25). That is better than Noah Ngeny's fastest time. Crazy.
I don't think that Jakob will break any of them. He has had a few races where he looks very strong in the homestretch and kicks well, but more often, he seems to struggle at those speeds. My guess is he runs something like 3:28 (3:27-3:29 range), 7:27ish (7:25 - 7:30 range), and 12:48 (12:45 - 12:55 range). I think the way he has been training, he is closer to his peak than most his age.
We'll see. Barega is only about 9 months older than Jakob and ran 12:43. I think he has a better shot than Jakob at challenging the 3,000 - 10,000 records than Jakob has at challenging any record.
Tim Cheruiyot has a better shot than Jakob in the 1500 still, even with the age difference, in my opinion.
Barega and Kejelcha in the 3000.
Barega, Kejelcha, and Telahun Bekele all have a better shot in the 5000.
