33 year old - trying to get back in shape
No race on horizon - just increasing general fitness. Question on interval recovery - when I ran 400 repeats in CC in high school, we’d run below threshold if I recall and then a slow jog till heart rate was down to 120
I ran 4 400 meter intervals today - question is it better to always jog the recovery and go by heart rate? I did a slow jog after 400 at around 6:45 mile pace and even with a slow jog I could not get heart rate down to 120 even after 600-800 meters. If I walk after the interval obviously heart rate quickly goes down and will hit 120 within about 90 seconds
With a goal of building capacity and endurance should I be jogging or walking the recovery? What if heart rate doesn’t get down even at a snails pace? StArt next interval at 135 beats per min?
