Brown's sprint and field coaches aren't good enough to not make a mockery of themselves without running points and they weren't saving enough to hire better coaches.
Please elaborate on your rationale for why these coaches aren’t good enough and for the love of life don’t say bc you’re the “better” coach they need.
Before someone jumps on me and says Brown distance scores no points or low points, ask yourself is that likely to always be the case - they aren't the university of miami in florida.
Depends...how long has it been that way?
I'm not saying they aren't good coaches. I'm saying the ivy league is competitive enough to not be won on sprints and field alone. Brown isn't going to score enough points to make up for 0 in the 800, 1500, steeple, 5000, and 10000 which is what happens to teams that cut xc generally. Last year, looking at results Brown was a team that picked up points here, points there and didn't have a couple dominant sprinters, throwers, or jumpers that scored big in multiple events. Most teams are like this. Could their coaches get a guy to this level or they get a top recruit? Maybe, but for all the times it doesn't happen, brown would be last in the ivy with distance runners who couldn't score any points as any serious distance runner would put a score without xc below those with when choosing a college.
