Sondre is going after 25,000 meters at the Bislet games this Thursday. Could see a HUGE attempt at the 25,000-30,000 meter world record a the Pre Classic in October with Kipchoge and the NN Running team. Stay tuned.

I would rather see him try to get The European 10000 Record of 26:46
This meet has all these odd distances that are so rarely run, I don't like it.
It will be interesting to see his time at the Half Marathon.
Doesn’t Kipchoge have london?
way to make the ruined track season even worse, drive away all the viewers with a 62 1/2 lap snore fest.
Which elites are even going to be competing in October?
Everybody is anticipating all the big city marathons will be canceled this fall because of the Covid 19 crisis. Berlin and the rescheduled Boston are already gone. London unlikely. So the top marathon runners are looking for an event. They can stage a 25,000/30,000 meter attempt at the the new Hayward and still comply social distancing mitigations if required.
Moses Mosop set the record at the Pre Classic in 2011 and it was awesome to watch.
Track distance running has become Strava.

It wouldn't drive away all viewers. I'd watch it if I could.

Clown alert!
Ignore this user^ he is a low-IQ clown
You can’t beat the 25.000 & 30.000 WR’s anymore. World Athletics has eliminated them. That’s the reason why Moen chases the ER as European Athletics still recognizes 25.000 meters as a Record-eligible distance
He should be able to break the european record if nothing bad happens. He passed 25K @ 1:13:33 at Valencia Marathon in december.

**** yeah. This is awesome. The most excited I've been for an athletics event since Yiannis Kourosh set the 1,000km track world record in 1997.
Not sure Moen gets it. This does not seem to be his forte. Sure the record is soft, but I think he misses by a long shot.
Since it isn't in the TV window, does it really matter?
Sondre Moen 1:12:46 for 25,000 meters! Just missed Moses Mosop world record by21 second.
Great Run.

Easy to keep the fans 6 feet apart, that's for sure, all twelve of them.
As that other poster said, there is no such thing as a 25,000 or 30,000 meter world record anyway. The interesting thing, if they go through with this joke, would be to make it a full marathon and see if a lapped runner comes back to win.
It might not be a official world record but would be considered a world best. The point is if there is no big city marathons because of covid it gives something for the world class guys to train for. Missing two race cycles (Spring '20 and Fall '20) is detrimental to a runner long term form.
