Folks. Are you ready for a live international broadcast of a track meet from a DL stadium?
We hope you are as the Impossible Games are Thursday.
To get you ready, Jonathan Gault reached out to Bernard Ouma to see how his athletes have been doing.

We'll have a meet preview soon.

Ouma's not sounding too optimistic about this or the year.
-
This will be fun to watch. With such a small field, runners not at prime fitness, and 2 clear teams, it will be really interesting to watch how it plays out, strategically.
-
Why are there not other teams?

Looks like it will be streaming live on the NBC sports network.
If you want the live coverage from Norway it is here: https://tv.nrk.no/serie/friidrett/2020/MSPO34050120

I'm excited by this. Interesting to see them attack some unusual distances. The Ingebrigtsen Bros are probably targeting the European record of 4:51 by Cram. I personally only think Filip and Jakob are capable of it. Cheruiyot can probably run sub 4:50 of he wants.
-
The brothers ARE quite officially targeting Cram´s ER. Cram is hired to be the commentator!
I think that both Timothy and Jakob can go below 4:50.
I could see Jakob running 2:25 and 2:23 on the first and second km.
Filip is possibly too tired after having tried to break the Norwegian record in the 1000m earlier in the evening of Impossible Games. -

Did you miss the interview where Bernard Ouma said Tim isn't in shape? -

Poor Crammy always has to commentate when one of his records is broken.
I think Apuita in 85 was probably the only time he wasn't commentating. -
Well done ex-runner. Athletics about to be one of the first sports to have an international live event since the lockdowns began. A unique chance to grab some limelight, attract new fans, and basically raise the spirits of the running community worldwide - all thanks to the ingenuity of the Bislett organizers and the friendly partnership of the Ingebrigtsens and Ouma's boys.
And with LetsRun at the forefront of promoting it.
And ythen you have to come in here and ruin the thread and p $ on the party with your alcohol induced nonsense again. -
With the interruptions in training, the awkwardness of the distance, and the rarity of sub 3:50 miles (17 since 2010), I just don’t see fast times happening.
Sub 4:55 doesn’t happen often in the 2k.
Komen ran 3:30 and sub 8 the year he ran 4:52.
I think we’ll see one or two 4:56s and everyone else struggling to break 5. -
Meet schedule:
2:58 25000m Men
3:25 100m Men
According to the meet schedule, the 100m is only 27 minutes after the start of the 25,000m, an event that will take over an hour. So are they going to let Möen keep running around the inside lane, and race three runners over the outside lanes? All the athletes from both events are in Norway. -
Last year in DL Doha Timothy CAME BACK FROM INJURY running 3:32.47 in the 1500m.
If he is in a similar shape today I see him break 4.50. Fore example 3:36 for 1500m and 70-73 for the remaining 500m.
Regarding the Kenyans training break: Haven´t they got treadmills in Kenya? -
^ He's not running sub 4:50 in Nairobi.
-
Right, sub-4:50 in Nairobi would altitude convert to the world record. I bet the Kenyans barely sneak under 5.
Jacob has a legitimate shot at 4:50 though, based on how incredible he looked in that road 5k. -
The garden Pv thing was interesting the multi event thing didn't really keep my interest this meet just seems like the sport is just trying way to hard
-
When is the 2k?
-
Sub 4:50 would require splits of 58.
Rough pacing marks to hit... 57, 1:55 (58), 2:53 (58), 3:52 (1600 though) (59), 4:49.9 (57.9).
That's fast! You'd have to be in 3:30/3:47-ish shape to even have a chance! And, you'd have to be damn confident in your shape to see 3:52 on the clock and run another 400m at that pace!
I'm unsure if there's currently anyone in the world who is in that type of shape with the season we've had. Hope to be proven wrong :)
