What is a better way to calculate your aerobic threshold?

I'm presently re-reading Moffetone's "Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing". I'm going to implement the MAF method starting Monday since I am only 3 weeks into base after years of not running.
I prefer MAF because the set hr training range will allow you to track progress better and is more conservative than %, which gives you more range to overtrain.
Curious to hear others thoughts.

My thought is that you started the thread and possibly wrote the book too. Let me help you/ where and why should we buy the book?
If you want to run easy, just stay under 75% of max hr. There is nothing scientific about the 180-age formula, and it can throw out strange results if your max hr is higher/lower than normal.
If I go over 75% do I lose the benefiets of Z2? I'm kinda new to this HR stuff.

If you go through the book and analyse the case studies, you'll find everybody he gives detail on are either already elites who've got overtrained or under 30s
Basically they're training at heart-rates in the 150s which is why they have so much success.
Very low heart-rate training will build your fat-burning which is a slow process taking a couple of years.
If you want a HR method, I'd use HADD as he gives you a mix of paces.
