I agree that he runs his workouts hard--the workout he did leading up to the 3K had me thinking he was going to run 3-5 seconds faster than he did, and he was clearly hanging on for life in his 3K (for good reason given it was scorchingly fast).
I think he can run 13:35-13:50. I hope he gets into a race so we can see where he falls in that range.

mihaly igloi might disagree with the above statement about high intensity. jim ryun might too. with great talent, and the incredible aspirations that come with it, risks must be taken. but for mere mortals (and time will tell whether nico is that rare kind of talent, or just really, really, really good and well-trained), that statement may be true...

I mean Jim Ryun did burn out.
With modern training he could’ve been much faster, so I’m not sure why you’d want to emulate his methods.
