I'm looking to run a sub 19 minute 5k by the end of the year.
Yes, I am aware that it's not a fast time, but I am going to be 31 soon, have never run seriously, and I am recently returning after about 18 months off due to a series of nagging injuries and general disgruntlement!
I am currently building my mileage up to the following:
M - 6
T - 3
W - 6
Th - OFF
F - 3
Sa - 9
Su - OFF
I am going to be adding a workout in on Wednesday, and I want it to be some kilometer repeats.
Is there any value in doing 6 x 1k as opposed to 5 x 1k?
Or is it best to do the 5 x 1k and just reduce the rest/recovery needed?
Also, I am to put a 200m kick at the end of each repeat.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
