incredible job though, 13:50 basically solo in HS. can't wait to see him in the jacks' singlet next year.
The pacers he had were basically the fastest random youth they could find around Portland
Rupp was at the track watching. Not helping his record get broken though.

I'm sure they could've found someone decent.
I don't know about that, depends on if weather or pacing was the bigger problem. If his teammate was the best one, he couldn't have paced him through two miles, although it would've been better at least than the BS he got.
Nico gave a great effort. Solo records are very hard.

Epic power move if true
Just curious: How fast do we think Young would have ran if Connor Mantz and Casey Clinger were to pull him through 3200m??
idk, 13 seconds is a lot and he faded hard, but probably #2 all time, getting under Lindgren's 13:44

i would say 13:40. when you know you’re off pace which he obviously did you start to mentally loose it

It’s true but not really a power move.

Maybe he just showed up to sit on the starting line.

Gonzalez said Rupp has a slight twang ?
RoJo you post rebooted AGAIN while reading your post.
Fair points.
If pacers were only going 6 laps why not go for 2 mile record?

Agree. True story.
The criticisms are legitimate but unfortunately yours will fall on deaf ears as you complain about the announcing/pacing/stream in every single running event. Every. Single. One.
The manboy who cried wolf.
I really have been having a hard time to figure out why there was no publicity. I was wondering if I had alzheimers or my brain was fading because I'm still not sleeping great with the toddler waking up.
But now i feel better as I just got a text from a source - that might explain it to me. The following hasn't been verified but if true makes sense. Covid-19?
"They didn't announce Nico's race ahead of time because they were sneaking onto a closed track."
Can anyone in Porltand confirm?
And I didn't realize it was 79 degrees. Who in their right mind would think it was a good idea to run it in 79 degree temps? Why not do it in the morning when it's going to be 67? Or do it tomorrow night when it's giong to be 69?
I'm still amazed that a bunch of adults thought this was a good idea.

Right. This kid, while he might have run fast regardless, has been able to recover so much better not having to walk around school after workouts. He is also able to train whenever he pleases instead of after the school day. Huge help for him.
