Brees has two options:
1. Apologize right away for making a boneheaded comment and promise to do better/take classes to better understand the plight of African-Americans or...
2. Contact the Saints front office about getting him an all white offensive line full of conservative good ol' boys because EVERY opposing African-American linebacker, defensive lineman, and strong safety is going to be seeking blood every time they blitz.
Drew Brees said the Right Thing, Most People agree with him, including Black People. Never Apologize when you are correct.
Should Nathan Hale have had to Apologize for saying My only regret is I have but One Life to give for my Country when he was about to be executed?
Of Course Not.
I'm sad to read about Drew Brees being a racist.

No Alcohol since 1982, so the answer is NO
What, are you implying that it is loony to compare Brees to Nathan Hale?
Its funny how people are trying to say that kneeling is disrespectful, when kneeling has been considered the most respectful thing you can do throughout the history of humanity. If people were competing to be respectful, and a white dude was the first to kneel before the flag, everyone would be copying and saying, "Why didn't I think of that first?"
White nationalists don't like the message. Because of that, they turn things180 degrees backwards and pretend that makes sense. I can see them now saying that people proposing to their girlfriends are disrespectful because they are kneeling, people praying are disrespectful if they kneel, people kneeling before royalty are being disrespectful, etc.
Brees has been vocal about his support of the BLM movement, especially this week.
It's important to compartmentalize his opinion on kneeling and avoid conflating it to "Drew Brees is a racist who wants to keep the black man down" (see Ed Reed's response video). His family has a history of serving in the military, and to him, kneeling is spitting on the grave of those who died to protect America.
That being said, he likely doesn't understand the story behind the kneel. Kaepernick used to sit during the anthem in protest. After talking to a marine, he understood that it was more respectful to join his teammates in unity for the Anthem, all the while still making his point heard.
Yeah, what Brees said is tone-deaf. But it's insane to take an opinion in one area and decide what he means in another.
Unfortunately, that's the world we live in. If you don't fall in line, you're cannibalized by your own movement.
I don’t think Brees is racist. I think he is terrible at articulating anything besides football in interviews.
Kneeling isnt disrespectful in and of itself. It’s the timing (Situation) of the kneeling.
There is nothing wrong with standing but I would wager if you stood up in the middle of a packed movie theater there would be a fair amount of people upset.
Kaps reason for kneeling is a valid reason. I think most of the NFL players and fans agree to some extent. I also think there could have been a better and less divisive way about it.

It's not the timing. They don't like the message.
Black Lives Matters is an extremely racist statement at it core.

I think it really sucks when someone makes a relatively articulate and logical argument and then people are all po'd because it doesn't match their view of the perfect world.
Mr. Brees stated why kneeling was against his beliefs with respect to soldiers, specifically his grandfathers, who risked their lives in World War 2 for what the American flag means to him.
Respect and Peace. We all deserve it and some of us have earned it.
I'll expand on what I said before. Imagine the first guy to kneel during the anthem was a white guy who said he did in honor of fallen soldiers or something like that. People would eat that up and start copying. It's the message they don't like.
Liberals, leftists, and communists have no tolerance for any worldview other than their own.
Virtue signaling and PC speech censoring are tactics they use to silence any opposition to their narrow point of view.

Ludicrous.
If I sat on a bench in protest during the anthem and said it was because "I hate eating peas."
People would say: ... Wait... What? Why are you doing this here. We're not asking you to eat peas? The flag has nothing to do with peas. If you want to protest peas, write a letter to Jolly Green Giant. Or do something else loosely related to peas. This isn't the time to be protesting peas. We are singing the anthem in respect for those who keep us safe and died for our freedoms. Not peas.
Me (still sitting on the bench): nah bro. f$#@ peas.
All that needs to be said https://twitter.com/mccourtytwins/status/1268266207435804672?s=21

I don’t agree that he articulated it well. Not at all.
