I think some of you are reacting a bit too defensively & might want to try listening (or reading through the lines) before clapping right back.
I'm not going to go after someone for expressing true anger. It's easy to sit back as a white dude, as 100% of the people condemning this post are, when we don't face racism in America. You might feel the same way if you've been targeted for no reason or lost a family member to a cop murder. I've also been to rallies in Oakland after Ferguson when I was out there for work and tensions between police & civilians there might be the highest in the entire country. I witnessed police going after peaceful protesters firsthand.
What I mentioned was something that took place ~ 6 years ago. Things haven't exactly gotten better and now white people want to police black folks over how they should feel. Yeah, there might be some good cops, but they operate in a racist system & one where they have way too much power/control without proper oversight. You can't just reform policing in America because you have an uncle who is a cop who is a good guy. The institution is corrupt and needs an overhaul.
Yes, AJ used strong language. Many of you are uncomfortable and I get that. But he used that language for a reason. Policing in America needs to be revamped, not reformed.
