Great Oak will win in 2020. They are much older than Newberry this season. The years after that Newberry destroys everyones. Louden Valley slowly slinks off back into the hole they came from, Unless they get 6 more transfers again.

If the season and NXN happens in 2020, there certainly are teams that Newbury Park will need to watch out for. They include:
-Great Oak CA. Always reloads and returns some solid guys such as Joseph, Worthy, Simone (who led the team at Woodbridge but ended season early), Montez (who ran a 179.8 speed rating at Woodbridge), and some more guys that can step up. Problem is that only 2 of their guys raced at NXN before (Newbury Park returns 5). So they will need at least 3 NXN-course-inexperienced guys to stick with them during the race; they might be able to win it that way. But they are a good pack-running team and every year they seem to have at least a couple of guys come out of nowhere (last 2 years they had guys go from JV to being their #1 or #2 runner in just a year).
-Bellarmine CA. Placed 5th in the merge in the CA state meet but did not have their best race. Returns everyone. But their lack of depth and lack of previous NXN racers might hold them back.
-Lasalle Academy from RI. Placed 6th but only loses 2 seniors; neither of them finished as high as Young or Aschbrenner at NXN.
And I agree about Loudoun Valley, their boys team won’t make it to NXN with losing 6 of their top 7, unless they seriously reload and perhaps get some good transfers. I think the boys autoqualifiers from the Southeast will be Severna Park from MD (if fall sports happen in MD) and Belen Jesuit Prep from FL, with Satellite from FL making a run at those teams. These 3 teams finished in the top 6 at NXR SE and none of them are losing more than 2 runners.
LV’s girls team will be a lot better than the boys team and has a good chance to qualify for NXN again. And in fact, last year LV girls placed higher at NXN than the boys did and also won NXR by a bigger margin. They are also losing only 2 seniors that races in the NXR Southeast championship race.
Another CA boys team that could make things interesting:
Jesuit.
Placed 4th in the merge in the CA state meet. They lose Strangio but return their 2-5 and add transfer Salcido who was forced to run JV in XC last season due to transfer rules, but he ran a 4:17 mile earlier this year. He or someone will need to step up and take on the roles that Strangio had if they want to challenge Great Oak, Newbury Park, or Bellarmine. They will probably need to finish close to the third CA team in the state meet merge in order to qualify for NXN as the second at-large team.
