Surprised we haven't seen multiple threads by LRP about this. Is he ok? Did he contract covid-19?
Some say it is better to be the Hunter than the Hunted but this guy is now almost 23. I suppose he will eventually be a 3:33 13:10 27:20 guy. Not too bad.
2nd best HS times in history. I think the college competitive experience helps guys a lot. Training alone with the weirdos does not motivate people the way competition does.
Probably sub 13:15 at least, one day.
3:57 actually looks good only a few weeks after his 8:36. Surely he will run faster than 3:32 if he sticks with the sport.
Is Tinman training really the best option for a 1500/Miler? I know people say he's a future 5ker but he keeps running the mile and is theoretically training specifically for that with... critical velocity?
He gets DUSTED by pros in the last lap of races.
This is just cringe city. Wow.
This would have been his senior year (4th year) in college, and he has a 1500m PR of 3:35, less than 1 second off the NCAA record.
Sure, he has benefited from being a pro, but with setbacks including serious injury last year and a cancelled season this year, it seems like he has progressed pretty well. How many people would leave college with PRs like this?

Very few ran times quite that fast. The 3k in particular is very good. Only Lalang really has significantly better times across the board (3:33, 7:36, 13:00). Knight has times of 3:36, 7:45 (indoors), and 13:17, which matches up quite well. Compared to Fisher, another high school star; Fisher ran 3:39, 7:42, and 13:29 in college, and I don't really know of anybody saying he hasn't progressed well.
Lotta histrionics for a fartlek, jeez.
Looking from his Strava the run was at 3,600 ft, which is apparently a conversion to 3:53.

I think he must have run on a flat indoor track or something -- the altitude conversion is only a second or so.

Not to mention he has been getting a paycheck since turning pro.
3:57 seems really solid in a team time trial. Hoping for more good things out of him in the future.
3:57, an OK run considering the heavy training block he’s in. But let’s factor in:
-3600 ft of altitude
-pacers only went to 1350m, not ideal
-8mph wind
-no taper the 3 days before
-spikes are fairly worn down
-coming back from injury, hasn’t raced in 10 months
Let’s call it 3:49. Nothing crazy. Again, not bad for first real race in 10 months within heavy training block. Not bad since he’s not that talented, just a guy working hard, training optimally and KTBR.

3600 ft has literally no physiological effect on the body compared to sea level.

Orrrrr maybe he ran it on a flat outdoor track because it’s late May. Gotta love when posters act like they know more than everyone else, including the athletes and coaches. If there’s already a legitimate conversion in place, I’m not sure why or how you think otherwise.
People can argue about conversions all they want, but at the end of the day he ran the fastest mile ever on South Dakota soil, which is pretty awesome regardless.

Well he ran his warmup next to a 200m flat track, then didn't GPS log the race, and the conversion only makes sense if he ran indoors. So I'm guessing he did for whatever reason -- maybe too hot/windy outside.
LOL nevermind, I'm totally wrong. Didn't realize the NCAA gave so much for that altitude.

The hell it doesn’t.
Dude's soloing time trials, cut him some slack. Not a person on this thread could solo a sub-4 , let alone in the middle of a pandemic.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
