Literally, breaking news.
I’d love to be wrong, but he’s never coming back. And not just because of this.
Bummer. Guess he’ll have to settle with his GOAT career.
Rudisha is officially retired, or at least he officially should. But if he somehow came back (and was successful) it would probably be the biggest flex possible. If he one another Olympics or world title, now, instant GOAT status
He's already pretty much the 800m GOAT.
Who else? Idk how many times they went under 1:42, but Kipketer is obv out with no medals.
Seb Coe... was he ever as dominant?
The guys from the 1950s or whatever? Idk. Peter Snell?
Rudisha's London final run was possibly the greatest track and field effort of all time. Solo 1:40 after rounds... insane.

Rudisha is GOAT but you're an idiot who should be ignored for claiming that Kipketer has "no medals". There is a big difference between no Olympic Gold and no medals at all, and that kind of gaffe is insurmountable.
I will say though that Kipketer is def the GOAT of the indoor 800m. No way anybody touches his record for 50 years.

Came to basically post that. Rudisha hasn't run a race in THREE YEARS. He can rest easy knowing he is the 800M GOAT and has the greatest race in T&F history.

Not as big as the gaffes that resulted in Kipketer never winning an OG gold medal,
Such a bumer.
I had so much hopes to see him take a dump on Brazier. But it wont happen :(

This
How can you break your ankle by stepping on uneven ground
has any other retired athlete broke there ankle lately and would lrc post about it irrelevant
I think Nick Symmonds should challenge Rudisha to an 800 m race one year from today.
From the very limited info released, it sounds to me like he had plate and screw fixation of am oblique distal fibular fracture. Hopefully he can get the plate explanted in the near future and return to running. I am not optimistic about him making it back to top form for the Olympics...

He probably took the step off a balcony.
Sucks. This dude cant stay in one piece. Definitely a wrap for him.

You can if you're running 8 meters per second!
That's the next big barrier in track. 800 meters in under 100 seconds.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
