You don't think Hoka changed the game? That was innovation. Had the "meta rocker" ever been done in running shoes? Max cushioning using an (at the time) ultralight foam?
Every major shoe company completely changed their line up thanks to Hoka.
Brooks, New Balance, Nike et all were all about minimalism until Hoka started gaining traction and taking a dip out of their sales with the "hobby jogger" (who make up 99% of runners) crowd. Now, every single manufacturer has at least one model that would be/is categorized as maximalist cushioning.
You can also thank Hoka for the price increases in shoes the last 10 years. Once the same big boys realized people would pay $130 to $160 for a pair of shoes (The original Bondi B was I think $150 and the Stinson was $160), they immediately started charging more.
I'm not sure all the new types of cushioning is solely due to Hoka, as a lot of it is just natural evolvement of materials and technology. I do think a company like BASF really helped push this forward with their material now used in Boost, Everrun and others and that spurred on others, like Nike to develop better cushioning materials.
