Rojo looks for something that isn't there then thinks of himself as "smart" for doing so. He did the same thing when he coached at Cornell.

Hi Sage!
Gotta agree with Rojo on this one. Also, no rail. Have to *** this one.

Hi Sage!
Nope. Sage is a good guy, but we're very different people.
Rails are often lifted at track meets to accommodate the Javelin or High Jump. I see cones where the rail would be. Isn't this a legal alternative (as long as the cones are not displaced)?
Of course it's a legal alternative.

Yes. They had a USATF official certify the setup.
So the race broke TWO stupid rules? Even more legendary.
World Athletics is overruled.

Today is Memorial Day and THIS is what Rojo is worried about? Rojo have you ever served? Wait, I already know the answer to that question.
Rojo, the other thing that caught my eye was the stagger they used . I wonder if it was correct ? If you watch them come out of the curve all the runners whose stagger started on the curve were way ahead of the runners who started on the straight. Starting in lanes for one turn for a mile is pretty rare. It’s probably accurate but who knows?

Absolutely doesn’t deserve any asterisk. He ran a mile on a track sub 4.
Curious to know how rojo even found out about this rule.
Me too, especially considering that rojo is quite infamous for not reading. Reading takes away too much time from naps and TV.
You are an idiot. The exchange zones are painted on the track. If those are off, every 400 run on that track is inaccurate.

careful, Rojo will kick you off the team, I mean ban you, for this

Were the start line and finish line a mile apart? ?
I think they were a little less than 10 meters apart.

Uh Einstein the race is 1609 meters long, not 1600 meters. ?
The start line for the mile is about 2 feet before the start of the exchange zone in each lane. If the outside lanes got an advantage as the idiot suggested, then every race using a stagger is certainly off.
Look at the video . The lane one start is even with the exchange zone, so by your calculations 2 feet off. Even if each lane is two feet off it’s the difference between 4.00.xx and 3:59.xx

That's why they had several USATF officials there.
The Egg-spurts here on LRC can pontificate all they want to about their perceived authority regarding whether this is legal or not, but it really wouldn't matter.
USATF certified, with FAT timing, 6 finishers and officials on hand
BTW many State championship meets are run with staggers in Mile/16s and also for 2mile/32s. .... Especially States that run with18 racers qualifying. Last I checked these results count.
The bottom of the triangle should be 10 meters from the finish line. Not having measured the size of the triangle, it appears to be about 18 inches in height which means they ran about 6 inches too far. But there was an official who set the track up so I am pretty sure that it was spot on 1 mile.
I watched a few other mile races to see where the arc meets the curb. They all appear to be about 18 inches from the start of the exchange zone, right where this one was. the distance may be an optical illusion but they all appear to be consistent.
