It seems like all manner of outdoor sports - trail runners, cyclists, skiers, rock climbers, etc all dream of moving to Colorado if they haven't moved there already, but California has equal amount of mountainous terrain stretching across much of the states, and yet I almost never see people daydreaming about moving to Mammoth Lakes or asking about moving to Tahoe.
What don't the Sierras have the pull that the Rockies do? Is it California culture, taxes or infrastructure that's lacking? Does LA and SF drown out the popular opinion of Cali and people forget the Sierra Navida exists? The climate? Lack of jobs and affordable housing?
