It takes a lot more than an American flag being flown on a Harley to make patriotism.
To not care if other Americans get sick is not patriotic and not American.
Or maybe America has changed. Our new America is rancor and might and heft with a pronounced lack of honor.
In other words, the new America would be encapsulated in this rewording of President John F. Kennedy 's quote, "Ask not what I can do for America but what America can do for me."
Modern America doesn't look at life as patriotism, but ...
The stock market....UP 320 POINTS in ONE day! I love America!!!!
A work raise...I MAKE $5,000 more per year!!! I love America!!!!!!
A promotion...I'm a MANAGER now...I love America.
Patriotism?
Try pandering. You love America when it gives you what you want.
The homeless Veterans out there that don't get what they need? THEY love America! THEY gave everything in the wars and aren't getting back what they deserve. Yet every day they fight to stay alive and every Memorial, Independence and Veterans Day, they celebrate because they ARE American and they ARE patriots.
What many of you call patriotism is tied to your business or job which gives you life's luxuries. But don't mistake yourselves for patriotic Americans. American soldiers risked life and limb to save fellow Americans. First responders risked life and limb to save Americans. The doctor, nurses, nursing assistants, and all essential workers risk their lives every day so we can have the care, goods and services we need.
Yet you won't even follow orders to save YOUR fellow Americans.
Don't call yourself a patriot. That's patronizing America.
