That has to be be a record?
Newbury Park's top three 3200 runners have run 8:40, 8:44 and 9:05 - Is that a record?

I saw that Nico paced Jace for most of his 8:44. I'd love to see what Nico is capable of now considering we are a year off of his Arcadia performance against Sprout. My god.

Didn't Nico finish 15 to 20 seconds ahead of Jace in most of their xc races in 2019? It's a shame we didn't see what he could do in an all-out 3200. The same for the top girls. -
I do know that Hammond High School in Indiana had three guys sub 9:00 in the two mile back in 1975 or 1976.
It was during his high school years that he (Rudy Chapa) formed part of a trio of runners from his school that all broke 9:00 minutes in the two-mile run, which he, Carey Pinkowski, and Tim Keough did in 1975. This feat has only been repeated by the boys of Northport high school of New York where 3 boys each broke 9 minutes for the 2-mile run in the same race at the New Balance outdoor national meet, although 2 of its 3 runners were twin brothers. -

We kind of did. I doubt he beats his 7:56 (~8:28 3200) in a HS only race. Maybe at Pre he would challenge the 2-mile record.
I guess he is aiming for a 5000? I think 13:40s in the best race. McMillan equates 13:40 to 7:46/8:21 and 13:45 to 7:49/8:24. I know endurance guys skew these a little. I cannot think by more than 10 seconds, giving Nico low 13:30s at best (7:41-7:44. 13:25 would mean, most generously converting 3k times, he gained more than 10 seconds on his 7:56 from February in 1 season, a few months. No.) -
I'm guessing top three average time

8:44 was in practice. Many teams have had 3 guys go faster in paced time trials in practice. They actually only have 1 guy sub 9. And besides that, Nico was shooting for 8:29 but ended up dropping out rather than get beat by his teammate.

No, it's not a record. In the 1970s, three guys went sub-9 on the same team. One of them was the Chicago Marathon director Carey Pinkowski.

Jesuit (CA) in 86 was close..
Eric and Marc Mastalir were at 844/851 and Paul Thomas was at 902 as a junior. He went mid 850's the following season.. -
La Salle had Matt Bouthillette(8:51.2), DJ Principe (8:51.4), and Jack Salisbury(8:57.7) all run those times at the 2016 Loucks Games. Jack had run slightly faster the year before, Matt would run slightly faster later on at Brooks PR, and DJ ran 8:47 for indoor 2 mile the next year. Not sure how Hammonds Times compare to those.

As a reminder, Newbury Park has only 1 guy under 9. Hundreds of teams have had 2 and a few have had 3.

Loudoun Valley, even with all their transfer students, is nowhere close to Newbury Park -

Everybody knows about this. I think the OP was referring to cumulative time (8:40 + 8:44 + 9:05). Yes, this is the record by far. -
No it isn't. 8:44 is not real and times are not all from same year. Many teams could cobble together a better 3 than this if there are no rules.

GTFO already. 8:44 isn't real? He ran it with FAT on a track.
Newbury Park had 4 guys that were absolute locks to break 9:00 this season. Goldstein would be their 4th fastest, as he doesn't have the wheels that C. Sahlman does. They also had 3 other guys with outside shots of breaking 9:00 this season.
Jace likely would have run around 8:35-8:40, conservatively, had he the opportunity to run in the invitational section of the 3200 at Arcadia this year. There is a high probability he goes on to become an All-American in XC at least once at CU. -

I think you are underestimating how fast a sub 8:40 race is. We see a lot of a 8:40s high. Not many people running sub 8:40. But it isn't like an 8:44 3200 isn't blistering. You would expect times like that to really good ( sub 13:50/28:40 at least) marks in college.
And as much as people give coaches crap about overtraining in HS and the like, the reality is that every high school should be pumping out a couple low 9:00 guys/year. That is the talent level that exists in the US. Who knows how many 8:40 guys never run track or if they do never train. -
His stride reminds me of Salazar's. Maybe his future is in the marathon.

While many people have mentioned the teams of the past that have had multiple sub 9 guys, I think Newbury Park is unique in that both Nico and Jace are well under 9 (with many believing that Nico could threaten Verzbicas' 2 mile record) and this puts them far ahead of the historical sub 9 trios. Also worth mentioning that Newbury Park also has two freshman who were running out of their minds this XC season who I haven't seen results for but could potentially be running low or sub 9s as well.

If it's not 2 miles it doesn't count.
