Paced by Nico Young, of course.

Amazing. Imagine running 8:44 and being the #2 runner on your team. I'm sure Nico is ready to break the record, too.
Do you think we'll see a "time trial" attempt from Nico for the record like we saw from the sub 4 attempt today?
No, I hear he's planning on skipping the 2 mile altogether and running a 5K instead. He'll be paced to 3200m in 8:40 (13:32 pace) and will be let loose from there. His coach, Sean Brosnan, says that he's in 13:25 shape, so he should be able to go under the record in good conditions and optimal health.
Looks like time trialing is the way to go.
Where was the race? All schools in CA are closed, correct?
They are doing it anyway, unofficially. In my area if you tried this there would be torches and pitchforks.
"Yeah I ran an 8:44 3200"
"Wow you must be the fastest guy in the nation"
"Nope"
"So, did you get your school record?"
"Uh no"'
"At least you're the fastest guy in your school"
"Nope"
WOW. He’s gotta be the fastest 2nd best runner on a high school team ever at 3200. Imagine running 8:44 and not being the top guy on your team. Incredible.
He did it at Concordia University in Irvine.
Nick Goldstein is gonna have a monster senior year. 9:05 is insane too. Newbury park will be title contenders next year too
also imagine running 9:05 and being 3rd on ur team. He would have smashed my school record

Nick was their 4th runner all year in XC. Their 3rd runner was only a sophomore.

They were able to use and get permission from CU, a small private school to use the track for 90 min with limited people and social distancing etc.
It Looks like it was a success and a very cool night for Jace, Billy and Nick

I like Nico. The West Coast fanboys need reality checked. Projections do not only use the best data points. 13:25 sounds absolutely absurd.
I can see him taking Galen's record.
He will not run 13:25.
13:40 sounds like a good result for a TT, as the top times all came in pro races with people to run with.
Derrick and Fernandez graduated early and ran 13:29 and 13:25 at NCAA champs and USA champs, respectively, as juniors. Rupp also ran 7:49 as a junior.
I do not know how old Nico is. Can he run junior records next Spring, or will he be older than 19?

all these kids thinking the only way to run fast is with 12 pacers and a single event "meet"...when literally all the actually good runners just show up and race
Why electronically time a practice time trial? And no video? And his coach is a 9 time All American?
