Sadly, USATF's Max Siegel was too busy collecting his 7 figure annual compensation to be bothered to give David Woods a quote for his story. What a joke. Can't he at least give the author from a major newspaper a quote like, "We're really hoping to keep the streak alive. It would be great to hold the first big meet at Hayward but so much is not known right now."
6. The Olympics are postponed. Do our Trials become U.S. championships or remain Olympic Trials? Would we hope/plan to still have them?
We want to hold the USATF Outdoor Championships this year since the Games are postponed, as long as they can be held in a safe manner for athletes, coaches, officials, and all involved. USATF has an advisory group actively working on contingency plans for a possible 2020 US Outdoor Championship. Any qualifying standard or procedures for a potential 2020 USATF Outdoor Championships would be determined. However, any contingency plans will be dependent on the timing, spread, and containment of the COVID-19 virus, which is continuing to evolve.
reaching for some controversy here rojo. in this day and age any statement is met with major backlash.
"we want to host a championship" causes uproar.
"we don't think it will happen" causes uproar.
we all want to know whats happening but right now everyone is in a wait and see mode. thus usatf decided to say nothing.
What does Bernie have to do with USATF?
USATF Nats and USOC OT for T&F have always been orphan meets only watched by niche fans
Whether they ger rid of these two meets and replace with committee selection doesn't matter to the American people.
It's the Summer Olympic Games people want to watch.
When will people get it? There is no sports this year. No track. No road marathons. No basketball. No football in the fall. It’s not happening.
