Armstrong was willing to do anything and everything to win. Mechanical doping is definitely within the realm of possibility.
Of course Armstrong fervently denies the allegations, just like he denied doping. His fallback argument is always "everyone else was doping, so I was still the best rider." What would he say about mechanical doping? Certainly not everyone was doing it.
People observing Armstrong and his teams climb noted how inhumanly fast they were in the mountains. There's even a clip out there of someone saying Lance was climbing uphill so quickly during one section that they swear they saw him apply the breaks to get around a bend.
