Testing in Georgia has been open to anyone who wants a test (symptomatic or not) since 5/7.
Testing and data collection in Georgia has been sh$t. In rural communities and even not so rural communities like Macon, GA, testing is only available two days a week. So, while in Atlanta testing is widely available, that is not the case in the rest of the state where there is still some rationing. Also, there are big delays in getting test results with people waiting up to two weeks to get results and big clumps of data piling in at one time.
I’ve been tested five times. I’ve gotten the results back the next day for three of them and 30 minutes later for two of them.
Do you have a breakdown of what percentage takes weeks and which labs are performing these tests? I’d be surprised if it is the exception and not the rule.

A quick google proved this to be false.

Macon is a big city and testing is indeed open 7 days a week. Other surrounding counties, not so much.
https://northcentralhealthdistrict.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/SPOC-Schedule-6-1-1024x620.pngSo if you live in Putnum County and you start to feel sick on Thursday evening you will need to drive a long way to get tested. You might already be in the hospital before the Putnum county site reopens.
We have not ramped up testing enough in Georgia to make a difference in the way we fight this pandemic. Kemp's policies have been a complete failure.
Ten deaths chalked up to Covid yesterday (6/24).
Way down.
Yet the media is pushing fear...upticks, surging, spiking, scary, scary numbers.

Fat's not doing so well on this promise. Did anyone really think he would?

I am keeping my promise. I shouldn't have said "thread" because on this board "thread" also refers to the whole topic.
I just mean that I will no longer read or respond to anything Giles posts or any post with Giles in it.

When you live in a county of 21,000, unfortunately you have to drive for a lot of services. Luckily if you start to feel sick on Thursday evening, you can go to Putnam General Hospital to get tested.
Of course Georgia has to do even more testing. However, it is the ignorance of people who think they don't need to wear masks in public, don't social distance, or don't get tested that keep the pandemic going. If Kemp had gone with test, trace, isolate from the beginning like other successful countries, we'd be in a lot better shape today.
There also needs to be a campaign targeted at those too ignorant to understand the importance of getting tested.

Can you still get tested for free if you go to the hospital?
I would not want to set foot in a hospital right now unless I'm extremely sick.

Who should be tested?
How often?
It seems that everyone is too ignorant to answer those two simple questions. And those questions must be answered before you can start a campaign.
This snippet from Florida shows the general ignorance of people who refuse to wear masks, to social distance, or to get tested.

Yes, and if we had done what the competent nations did then by now we would be out of lockdown and our economy would be mostly back to normal.
Now it looks like at least parts of the US will need to go back into lockdown and congress will need to pass more bailouts.
The formula for success is pretty simple:
1) Shut it down
2) Stop the spread
3) Test and trace
