He’s so handsome
I know Nick has takes like this on beer being okay as well and I like his message overall. That being said, (and he will never say this because he’s not a jerk) all of that worked for him because he is exceptionally talented.
I think a pro athlete is probably the least qualified healthy person to talk about that.
He wrote that he ate fast food once a week. Nothing earth shattering.

thanks for your input Nick
Your gonna be healthier once you cut out all the GU’s, sports drinks, smoothies, and powerbars
And run gum
It's like anything in moderation. I know a lot of top-end athletes that never eat fast food or only at the end of seasons and a lot that have some once every couple weeks. If Bolt is to be believed he did just fine off a diet of McDonald's Chicken Nuggets in Beijing.
Yeah, but he’s not 40 yet....
Ok but what pro athlete are you talking about?
This is why Nick is almost 180lbs. Pro-athletes can get away with bad diets. But once you retire, it is tough to stay lean and fit on the same crappy diet.
Have people seen the outrage on twitter for this same message? A bunch of SJW and Peter Bromka trying to guilt Nick for saying that some "calories are EARNED". Apparently Nick needs to soften his message for folks who have eating disorders.

As someone who has suffered from a terrible eating disorder, I acknowledge that the concept of "earning" calories can be problematic, but come on, people. I hardly think Nick is trying to shame people; instead, his messaging may have been off, but he's saying that it's okay to incorporate "bad" foods into a healthy lifestyle. Just my 0.02.
