There's an Alan Webb teleconference and we're on it right now. Any specific questions you'd like asked?
1) Is he going to run any cross country?
2) What does he think about David Krummenacker's breakthrough?
3) What will his base training be like in the fall?
"Do you feel you will be able to develop training on your own, or do you have some training partners in Virginia who can keep up with you in workouts?"
wejo, you can phrase it better. i want to know if he's going to miss having quality training partners and how it will affect his training.
Just how big was that Nike contract, for how long, what products or promotions should we expect to see?
When will his first competition be?
Will you be training with foreign athletes to learn how they have mastered the event (1500/Mile)? Perhaps with El G or Lagat?
What's the basic training plan for this year?
Will it be similar to what he did in high school, or are there any significant twists/new ideas?
has nike mentioned anything about possibly setting up an east coast farm team to you?
You have previous competitive experience in swimming. Your sub 47 400 potential is indicator of an excellent power/weight ratio for the bike. You have run sub 29? for 10K. Your chances of getting a gold medal are much better in triathlon. Have you and Nike considered what potential lies in the growing triathlon market?
Do you feel you're overpaid, considering you've never established yourself at the world level and have only run under 4:00 a few times? You're earning more than Culpepper, Meb, Krum, Abdi, Drossin, Teter, Suzy, etc., are you ok with that sort of pressure?
Do you think that Zamfir is gay?
While I do agree with Legalizit, I still believe he should stick to middle distance training until he fails or realizes that he has plateaued. If, after a few years of unsuccessful attempts in the Golden League, then I can see him making a successful transition to the international distance triathlon. Not that I'm on Webbs level, but I am struggling with the same dilemma. I just can't leave distance running alone, I feel I still have unfinished business even though I know I can probably compete at the international level some day in triathlon based on my strength as a swimmer and cyclist. I'm not saying I'll be anything good but I know I can't say that about my running. It is definately a tough call but I know Webb shouldn't hang up the spikes yet.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that."
Of course not.
"He's the phone man!"
"Not that there's anything wrong with that."
"OK, I'm out."
did propecia counter nike\'s offer?
I heard they came within a hair of getting Webb.
Ask what Webb thinks of guys like Ritz and Spiker and how there running fast times. Also ask about any upcoming guys like Lukezic or any other milers.
I'll assume the teleconference is over by now...when do we hear about what went down.
