I've had an Apple Watch (LTE version) for close to a year. SInce the start of 2020, I've been running more and recently starte d doing workouts. I can't believe how bad all of the running apps are out there. I searched around both the LRC forums and the internet in general but can't find anything worth much.
What I would like is an app that works like an old school timex for workouts.
I'd like to hit start and see my lap split counting up. Below that, I'd like to see the cumulative time. Pretty simple. If I use the apple stopwatch, it only shows my total time and the split after I hit it - it doesn't show the actual current split as it's counting up. The only time showing is the cumulative time.
Ideally since it's $600 watch, I'd also be able to see my HR, how far I've run during that rep and my current pace. Maybe that could appear on a second screen that you swipe to.
But the thing is maddening. Let's say I want to do a 2 mile warmup, then a 4 mile temp, then a 2 mile tempo. It's a disaster to use unless I want start a new workout for each segment. The only thing it's remotely decent at recording is saying like a normal boring easy day.
If I want to do like 10 x 2 minutes on/1 off or 12 x 400, forget about it. Total disaster. And I've downloaded apps that people talk about like imsoothrun and interval pro. The other day I decided to a few 400s on the track but had to just arbitrarily move my rest after each rep so I'd start at a full minute so i'd know what my next rep was run in but there was no recording of it. I just had to remember it in my head.
Anyone have a solution? How hard is it to make a better version of a timex? Or is there already an app that I simply don't know about or don't know how to use?
