That's not proven at all. I have seen zero studies that show lockdowns are causing excess deaths.
We do know that deaths from auto accidents are way down. So if you want to talk about secondary causes of death from lockdown you have to consider lives saved as well.
But if you want to talk about things that are proven, we know for a fact that lockdowns are saving lives. Everywhere lockdowns have happened, we see lower cases and thus lower deaths.
Also, we are finding out that opening up doesn't help the economy much. People are not going out and spending money. Unemployment continues to soar.
The lesson is that we have to beat the virus before we can do anything else. There are no shortcuts.
Nations who have been successful did three things:
1) Lock it down
2) Stop the spread
3) Test and trace
The lockdown is the only weapon we have right now. We need to use it.
