Classico LetsRun thread; thoroughly enjoyed reading it despite missing the race. Kinda a condensed version of the whole board at the moment in 18 pages.

You can post all the links you want, but until you show that lockdowns lead to excess mortality you haven't proven a thing.
It may be true that lockdowns cause more domestic violence and drug addiction. It's probably true that it is harming immunization and other public health efforts.
But it has potentially positive effects as well:
* Fewer auto accidents
* Cleaner air/fewer deadly asthma attacks
* Healthier eating from eating out less?
* More time to exercise
* Fewer deaths from COVID-19!!!
This post reeks of so much privilege from Fat Hurts. Disgusting.
Fat Hurts is an older fella. Some people believe that whatever they say, think, or post...is gospel. Fat Hurts is one of them. He posts to seek the approval of others and argues if anyone disagrees in the least. Let him be, this site is truly his existence and purpose in life.

Going to get tons of complaints. Full announcements and lights. Wasn’t like they were hiding
Exactly. Illegal race and promoted heavily by milesplit. If anyone in the NY/NJ area tried to set this up they would be castrated. This is not a legit sub 4 in my opinion.
This was not a secret or anything. There was some publicity leading up to last night. If someone had wanted to shut it down, they probably could have.
If the runners consented, and everyone there consented, and it's on video with a big ole' clock, then it happened. The fans can't unwatch it. It is not a matter of your opinion. Leo ran the mile in less than 4 minutes, and whether or not it is accepted as official, everyone who watched it will remember.
It was official.
It looks like the posts from the assholes who said, with certainty, that the race was at Sac State, were deleted. I drove all the way down there, but fortunately there was enough time to come back up to El Dorado Hills.
I think that was one guy who claimed that Sprout ran there the day before which I guess could be true but probably not. Somebody was more likely fishing for information. How far apart are the 2 locations?

I was making a joke. The women’s WR for a mile is 4:12.

There was more than one poster that claimed the race was at Sac State. I left about 7:20 local time to ensure I would be there before 8:00 and could not check the thread while I was driving.
It was 30 minutes from my house to CSUS and 25 minutes from there to Oak Ridge.

Does anyone at milesplit have any idea how hard it is to PR by 8 seconds in the mile when you're already at 4:10 or so? Does anyone really believe there's any scenario in which this race could accommodate anyone who was even remotely capable of running near four minutes for the mile (not the 1600M)? Strangio, healthy, with seasoned vets pacing him COULD have a shot. Maybe. The others' PRs make this whole thing look like a ridiculous PR-stunt (intended) designed to give kids who have lost their seasons something to mislead their friends and families about. It's a non-event.
So, how did your keen assessment turn out, "let's get real" guy??
Leo did it,
Sub 4 for mile. Not 1600
Without Strangio.
In an actual HS only race.
Without "seasoned vets" pacing.
No PR stunt.
FAT timing
With USATF officials there.
Real.
No PR stunt.

Those seem to have been deliberate by people connected with the event as they were disappointed that the location was leaked out.
It is discussed in this vlog
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jPsXzuM8UA"without Strangio" No, not really. Strangio actually put together the race. It would not have happened without him.
Late aftermath from Leo Daschbach's sub 4 mile in California in May.
https://www.villagelife.com/news/oak-ridge-coach-awaits-decision-on-suspension/
TL:DR The coach at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills (the track where they raced) has been suspended by the District's Board of Trustees for not getting a facilities permit for the race. He's been coaching at the school for 25 years, B/G XC and Track.
The local county was not under lockdown at the time for Covid-19, this is just school administration doing what they always do...
