I completely agree with you. If the money went to people who actually did something to make this possible, it would be different, but Milesplit adds nothing. They just block people from watching, so they make a negative contribution. They took something that could have been inspiring to a large community of people during an incredibly tough time, and they made it just one more example of greed and manipulation. That is disappointing to me.
Even with PPV Milesplit is probably not making money from this event. Do you think getting a filming crew to Sacramento and putting on a livestream costs nothing?
