As someone who coached Melly for part of his college career, I'm very proud of him for coming up with the idea for the event of, "How slow can you run a mile?" I love the creativity.
But as a former coach, his performance in the event leaves something to be desired that I can't overlook.
He ran it in 19:38. That seems fast to me. I sometimes run with a stroller and will hit over 12 minutes per mile when I'm trying to run fast. If I was trying to run slow, I'd like to think I cuold easily do over 25 minutes, maybe 30.
