Except for no "races" to "run", Ultra runners have been barely affected by this pandemic.
Since none of them actually work anyways, they can continue "training" all day long, every day.
There's still, possibly, steeplechase at the 2021 trials.
He'll always have 24th or whatever at the Olympic Trials, haha. May have gotten a ribbon or something for that.

Remind us again where you finished ....
True...I know several people who are still training, despite all their races being cancelled. They are putting unnecessary wear and tear on their bodies. They need spend less time running and more time with their families.
Yea...these ultra runners do need to get jobs. They don't do anything useful all day. They wake up and run 20-25 miles and then they go home and rest all day. Then they do it all over again the following day. Just look at Anton Krupicka, they only thing he does is climb mountains and ride his bike all day. After a year or two, that type of life will get very boring.
Heh, I used to see Anton reading books at coffee shops on my way to work in Boulder. Smart guy - figured out how to live quite the leisurely lifestyle in such an expensive place. It proves even if you can’t break 58 for the 400m you can make a living off running.

Kind of you to offer advice to all of these people. Anton interacts little with people in general, COVID or not, and he himself has marveled at the lifestyle he manages to lead. He's a professional brand ambassador, and quite honestly, still routinely does interesting things to follow from a sporting perspective (albeit severely reduced running), and he does it in good style.
Ultrarunners getting a job is not different than pro runners needing to get a job, which itself is debatable and largely depends on the personalities and the talent of those individuals, but it has nothing to do with ultrarunning per se vs 'standard distance' runners
He is likely disappointed, not devastated. You people have obviously not dealt with actual life tragedy if you think this would devastate anyone.

Anton is done for a long, long time. Now he does one blog entry a year or so.
http://antonkrupicka.com/blog/I like to trash Jim.
But this sucks man. We don't get to see what he would do. We don't have the data point. For both sides. Now its a what if argument.
Darn.
His strava shows he is biking a lot and not running much (by his running standards).

Come on don't do that to Jim. He is a class above Sage.
Jim had already decided in the circumstances to not do Comrades this year. He is thinking about going for Kilian's FKT on the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Can confirm. Big Jim is the best athlete in the world right now, of any sport. His next record attempt will prove that.

Back to the missile silo, 24 hour shifts, and DUI's I guess.

Yeah, I am sure that will happen.
He will FKT an obscure trail nobody has heard about and his Cocoku fans will go crazy.
I would love to see him smash the Grand Canyon rim to rim record. With no Other sports competing for the spot light it will bE HUGE. Plus looks like there will be another OT in the marathon. Don’t count out Walms in that!!!!!
