Excess deaths in US waaaaayy above the epic 2017 flu season.

2017 at 80,000 was not epic, bad and above the normal curve, but not epic, AND the stats for the current virus are so inaccurate as to be laughable. At least in 2017 they were making an effort to correctly log the deaths so they had an accurate count, NOW it's just "eh, put em' all in the Covid column" and call it good, we're too busy to be scientific about it, even though we worship at the altar of science. That's just as hypocritical as those who accuse the religious of being hypocritical or ridiculous.
The numbers and stats from this whole mess have been off from day 1, including the first introduction date. We still don't have an accurate 0 day, because it keeps getting moved back, not just in our country, but all over the world! That means we don't have an accurate total exposure number, which means every number and stat is wrong, as well as the models and predictions based on those numbers. But the real bummer is that the social and political decisions made based on the faulty models and predictions, are therefore wrong as well.
So we have a whole planet, making HUGE decisions without the benefit of accurate intel, hoping that what they do will lead to a positive outcome. We don't do that in any other part of our logic based, data driven society.
So my big question is why is THIS the hill and why was the reaction so knee-jerk?
