Univ of Montana finalists

Any word on who, specifically, was hired?

I am sure a high school coach will do just fine with what he has (as they are used to dealing with that kind of thing). The problem is, the Admin. Do you really think they care? It is an XC program.

It clearly looks like they wanted to hire a woman for the job. Maybe next year...

no one has been hired yet. definitely not a high school coach.

So the finalists were three males one female. They offer the job to the female, she turns them down. They don't offer the job to the other three male finalists, ok. But lets say there were one male and three female finalists. They offer the job to the sole male, he turns them down. They then don't offer the job to the other three female finalists what would happen then... maybe a sexism case... just a thought that might be off base but you can decide for yourself

Who said anything about not offering to the other three? I know at least one of the males was offered the job and turned it down. I don't know about the other two though.

I know one of them was not offered the job, so that leaves the 3rd guy to be spoken for.

poor student athletes. shame on UofM. This is just shameful anf terrible.

and to the guy that said, I'd rather coach myself at this point. we'll there is truth to that.

I feel bad for the runners and hope they can still enjoy there season by making the best of it.

For a D1 program the school's athletic department should be fined for this by the NCAA. Something should be done by the NCAA because this isn't right. The school's department has obviously sleept on the whole issue. They take care of there million dollar football program but put the XC and track club under the rug. if anything they should be bumbed down into a D2 division.

Yeah, we WILL make the best of it, because we've worked too hard to just throw this season away. And, sadly, we are used to being shafted by our athletic department. Jim O'Day should be fired. It was his job to hire a new coach, and he had plenty of time to do so. People who don't do their jobs get fired. Can you imagine the Grizzly football team starting their season without a coach? Never in a million years would that happen, so why should this be any different?

The football team is usually in the running for a national championship and generates significantly more revenue for the school.

They are in the running for a I-AA championship so what and you cant tell me they actually bring in any money I coach at a school with a I-AA football program they do not bring in money in fact they are usually more in the red than any other program. Unless you have no life or go look it up you probably can't name the two teams that played for the I-AA championship last year. My point being who really gives a crap if you are great but in I-AA. The XC team has to compete against D-I competition at every meet inlcuding probably west coast teams lets see the football team go up against UCLA or Oregon.

haha, no shit. the football team are a bunch of pussies. that don't have enough talent to play in D1 program but act as if their superbowl champs because they can win a AA championship. douche bags

Why in the hell would anyone really want to move to Montana? Give me ONE reason?

very few football teams make money for there school... many schools spend a lot more money than you think..... theres actually a couple reports on that...

2. even if they sold out every single game, they would still not break even.
