An elementary school in my hometown recently banned peanut butter from the campus because a student is allergic. That's just wrong.

--- this cr@p is just too over the top... what next? Milk beef?
I'm happy that this thread is back on the front page, because I have an important question to ask: What are some interesting bread choices people are using for their PB&J?
Sourdough, whole wheat, sunflower seed - they're all tasty, but what are some of the more interesting options out there?
PB&J on French Toast is money
PB&J on Raisin Challah is off then hook
PB&J on Arnolds cinnamon raisin bread is for little old ladies
PB&J on Thomas' English Muffins is a classic late nighter.
Distance runners delight just remember everything tastes better on a Ritz!!!
Plunk your magic twanger Froggy. "Give a Sh!t Give a Sh!t"
Kevin: They go together like PB & J.....Pam Beasley and Jim....awww, what a waste!
I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I want to have sex with them. I am very happy this thread has lasted for 9 pages. Yay PB&J!
I made up a "song" when I was little:
Celery, celery
Peanut butter
Tastes so good you'll want another
Celery, celery, celery
And peanut butter!
French toasted PB and banana is my favorite sandwich. PB and banana is delicious in oatmeal too.
My favorite peanut butter sandwich combination is:
1 tablespoon pb/1 tbsp nutella on whole wheat bread...yum!
I eat that or the classic pb&j every day for lunch!
Some people are so allergic that they can have a reaction by just being near it. If traces of peanut (so small you can't see them) are ingested, some people can still become quite sick. That's why you see all of your candy and energy bars say that they're made on equipment that also processes peanuts.
so it's kinda like... if someone is sick the best way to treat it is ME taking the medicine???

I've always wondered about this. When I was going to school in the 60's and 70's I can't recall anyone going into convulsions while big parts of the lunchroom wolfed down PBJ'S.
Is this peanut allergy thing recent, like restless leg syndrome?
Yes, it is a relatively recent thing but it is different from RLS in that it's extremely life threatening.

I'm not asking this to be snotty, but if it's recent do you know how it started?
I don't understand why nobody ever heard of this for years, now we see it on food rappers and it's banned in some schools. Is this something that mutated all the time, or did we just never hear of this?
now we see it on food rappers
I don\'t think I\'ve ever heard of a food rapper before. Are they better than thug rappers?
Wow, a forgotten "w". Aren't you clever and proud.
Now, unless you have something to add regarding peanut butter or allergic reactions to peanuts, go annoy someone else.
Toasted Sourdough is pretty good
I like the taste and texture of wheatberry bread
also I make a buttermilk egg bread with cinnamon swirl & pecans that makes a great PB & J when toasted
squishy while bread is ok but i like toasted texture better
Actually i also prefer Orange Marmalade to Jelly
My problem with PB &J is i can't eat just one, if i do i CRAVE more.
Also i love PB & bread & butter pickle sandwiches, not as sweet as jelly, and the vinegar is a great contrast to the PB
Great thread. I have 2 PB&Js in my bag for lunch today. Creamy PB and Grape Jelly on whole wheat is my preference.
When eating PB&Js at home I love to get a glass of milk, eat the crust off the sandwich first, then dip the remains in the milk. It can get a little messy but it is worth the trouble. My wife usually has to leave the dining room when I do this, she finds it totally disgusting.
I'm not a doctor but I've listened as doctors discussed the issue. Some were convinced it has to do with all of the artificial chemicals in our food.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering, if there was some kind of trigger.
