Dear older Pros, is it time to move on in life?

Objectively bad take. We shouldn't discourage the aging elite in our sport to move on but rather encourage them to run longgg careers like Lagat. Move to a different event and be mildly competitive domestically for a few years. They earned it.

Last year I read the Alexander Hamilton biography by Ron Chernow. In a way it's reassuring that although our country has been divided at times by misinformation and extremist views, not to mention the problem of slavery, we've so far managed to come out the other side. We are in a mess now that will take a decade to clean up, hope we are alive to see it.

I couldn't stomach reading past the first three or four pages because the OP was such a deliberately obnoxious jackass, but his weird unsolicited life advice reminded me of H.L. Mencken's definition of puritanism: "The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."

Amazon will hire you for contract delivery where you can easily double your earnings. You can still stay in shape delivering all those packages. The line for where it is apparent that someone other than you should move on with their life does not rest with you.

There is no difference. Telling someone “they need to move on in life” is logically equivalent to “You need to quit your professional running career”. In both cases you are telling someone how they should lead their life.
