The prime example of someone who managed their natural wealth properly is Norway. Instead of allowing corruption like everyone else, they built up an enormous sovereign wealth fund. It is an interesting point. In part because of the shared high standard of living, people in Norway have greater trust in their government and a highly-functioning democracy. Not coincidentally, the 2021 democracy index is out, and Norway ranks #1 among those nations determined to have a full democracy. By comparison, the US has fallen to the #5 rank among flawed democracies (#26 overall). US has a lot of work to do.
