An obviously he is also not able to bike 75 miles on a day to day basis since Darren is again injured. But at least he has time to see some real cyclists in Knoxville this weekend for the US Championships.

Darren said he ran 40-50 miles in training. If this would be true he could have run 40-50 miles on day one. That didn't happen as his 40-50 mile training run didn't happen.
All what we know is that he started cycling in Dallas, after a short gps recorded RV ride south of Nashville, he cycled east of Knoxville. Now he is injured again.

They are not even in the same ballpark when it comes to journey runs. Not even close. Moderately fit high school kids routinely ride their bikes cross country. Only the most elite journey runners are able to train their body to withstand the relentless pounding of a transcon run.
But Darren and his buddy are gym bunnies. They've been hardening their bones together for hours in the gym. I'm sure they are rigid enough to endure the pounding of 25 miles a day. It doesn't matter that they're not actually doing it. On paper they could do it, and that's what's important.

Who says he has to RUN the 25 miles a day? He could just walk at 4 mph for 6 hours/day, which is the same as biking 6 hours a day. My clients do ultras all the time and they walk most of the time, and nobody cares. That's what ultra running is about. Just covering the miles, moving through the landscape. Some ultra-anal LRC'ers might get upset about the distinction between walking and running, but it's all semantics.The point is, he's propelling himself across the country and it's all pretty much the same.

Yes. Also he said 40-50 miles a day but with lots of breaks (like to make the show). Not in a row. 3 days then stop. So it is possible. Someone said if he bikes 80 miles thats like running 40 that sounds right to me because running is maybe double as hard
I'm glad that finally--on page 80--some logic has finally crept into this thread. So far it's been dominated by people wanting to take this all way too literally, like it's a world record attempt or the Olympics or something.
I haven't chimed in until now, and I just want say that I agree with those saying he's doing the equivalent of running.
Remember that Darren is from SoCal, and things are pretty chill there. Running, walking, biking, taking breaks to fly home, whatever. It's all good. Dude's on a mission, and we should respect that. Why do people want to harsh on his honeymoon journey?
I think Darren is just as inspirational as that Scott Yorbic guy who hiked the appalachian trail. I mean, didn't he sleep in an RV every night too?

However you cover 25 miles a day on foot it's still demanding. To walk it in just 6 hours would be tough, and to maintain that for months would be extremely hard for someone who didn't do endurance training of any kind.
He never mentioned 25 miles anyway. He boasted 50 miles a day, every day.
To do it only doing 25 miles a day would take months.
Walking in ultras happens all the time yes, but he's never done ONE ultra, yet we expected to believe he could turn himself into an ultra machine on no ultra training.
He stopped doing this trip on FOOT on day one, and has been faking a cycle ever since.
Walking 25 miles a day at that fast pace is way harder than cycling 25 miles anyway.
But he's NOT self propelling. He's riding in the RV whenever he likes.
