as to the last point....Spy Magazine played a prank on a bunch of billionaires, a generation ago. It kept sending smaller and smaller checks to rich guys to see at what point they stopped cashing them. Trump won. He cashed a 13 cent check.

Well, so Trump alleges. But Trump has never understood privilege. He cannot assert executive privilege over documents from his time in the White House because he is no longer the 'executive'. At this point, only Biden can assert that privilege. As for the attorney-client privilege, to the extent that the documents relate to attorney-client document relating to Trump's service as a President, the US Government is the client and, again, those documents belong to the US government and only the US government can assert the privilege (the attorneys cannot assert it).
To the extent that there are documents from private attorneys that Trump hired and paid as an individual to advise him in one of his self-generated messes, he can assert attorney-client privilege and the government will have to return them. However, it is wrong to blame the government for grabbing them with the other docs when they were stored with government docs. Essentially, Trump is blaming the government because he was careless with his documents.
