Even if he did nominate a Lib the Republican controlled Senate could very reasonably oppose and not confirm such a nominee. But, not even holding / refusing to go through the confirmation process? That's never been done before and is a totally irrational, ridiculous action for the GOP to take. It's akin to a child refusing to continue playing a game because they are afraid to lose.
