Sup broskis. I love that XC swag ya'll go going on, but just saying... the WIAC is one of the best conferences of all time. Peaz out.

I made some detailed rankings/projections including a simulation of Nationals for 2013, and quickly put together a website.
If you're interested, take a look at d3distance.wix.com/runxc

Holy S***. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.
this is sweet!
Seriously, this is absolutely amazing! keep up the good work!
Forgetting Mr.David Stilin?
Also Deedring was 31st at nationals last year.
Should put La Crosse @ #1 :) :) :)
"All graduating seniors were removed from the data. We may update the results later with returning 5th-year seniors."
We are planning on adding redshirt seniors soon, but we don't know most of them so wanted to be consistent. Stilin is one of the few for which we do have confirmation is returning (http://www.theracquet.net/sports/healthy-and-ready-to-roll-1.2965230#.UfP9vtLZhsk). We are hoping our readers can help us out with this by posting people they know are returning on the message boards.
As for La Crosse, I think they are clearly the most dangerous team along with NCC. Other teams are as good up top, but both NCC and La Crosse are so good 1-7 they should be much less vulnerable to injury.
Anyone know any incoming freshmen that might impact the rankings?

This is probably a Calvin fan or athlete fishing for someone to talk about the class Calvin has coming in.
Nope, as far as I can tell, Calvin added one 19:00 5K guy.
On the other hand, NCC got a 15:00 3-miler.
Others?

Seriously? Calvin couldn't do any better?
Anyone think those D3 rankings are a little weird? I mean, times at nationals down to the millisecond? It's just D3 bro. I run it, and I'm still weirded out.
i believe tyler andrews of tufts has graduated

No, cause he did it by some type of formula and that's what was spit out.I don't think he sat around creating times to the tenth for no reason
This is a pretty cool projection. I know they were left out for a reason, but I will be interested to see how the 1500 guys that do perform well in XC change the team rankings. Specifically I always think of Haverford as a middle-distance power, so that might boost them a bit.
Hey d3distance, any chance you can do the same analysis for the women? I would love to see that.

What is weird about it?
Calvin has 16:xx guys coming in. No superstars as far as I know, but a 19:00 guy wouldn't even make the team let alone be their only recruit.
Spalding will surprise the Great Lakes. Look for a bid!
We are working on women's rankings now and hope to have them up within the next few weeks. We would have gotten them up with the men's rankings but need extra time to account for both 5k and 6k race distances. It's worth noting that as freshman women typically have a much larger impact on Nationals results than freshman men, pre-season projections won't be quite as strong.
If there was any way to include 1500 results without weakening the model we would. As of now, 1500 guys are still included assuming they ran Regionals or Nationals in 2012, but do not have the opportunity to improve on those times by posting a better 1500 time. So 800/1500 guys are at a disadvantage in these rankings, but in most cases the difference should be negligible.
