Sounds like the program at Dickinson burned out those girls. A coach needs to recognize when he is pushing too hard.

Thanks jaysnest, i'll catch up with you later, you know, our favorite meeting place; you bring the fun
please kids...let's keep this civil
Yeah, there are enough threads on this site bashing coaches. All the coaches mentioned in the past couple pages of this thread are doing a good job- period. Lets leave it at that. This thread should be about teams and runners. There are many good ones in the region, so let's not cheapen the discussion by bashing their coaches.
Guy's meet should be exciting.
Dickinson had Tarkoff come of left field and step up big time at Centennials(4'th again) for the second year in a row. If he runs with their top 5, they'll beat Haverford & CMU convincingly and probably get ahead of Allegheny too. However, if he runs more like 40 seconds off of their #4, I see them getting second to an Allegheny team with equally good frontrunners, and a better 5'th when they are on.
Haverford should be 4'th. They just don't seem to have the big guns to compete with Dickinson and Allegheny any more. Seems like they have a logjam of mid-d runners who run 25:30-25:50(on a fast course) which makes for good depth, but not much else in a stacked region.
The battle for 5'th should be intense.
Everyone is counting out Gettysburg because they ran awfully at Centennials. They had some guys run great at their home invite two weeks prior in the slop. They have a 1 who can run 25:25 at Lehigh, a 25:40 guy, a 25:50ish guy(only guy who didn't run awfully at Conferences) and then a bunch of guys who could run low 26's. If they're on, they will be much closer than expected.
E-Town is probably the favorite. They have a low stick in Reichert a solid #2 and then 3 guys who can challenge 26 at Lehigh. If they improve on Oberlin they will tough.
Hopkins ran pretty well at Centennials. Still, their usual #3 who is capable of 25:50ish at Lehigh was the 5'th man. If he does that, and their #1 and #2 run something like 25:20 and 25:40 than they are right there with E-Town through 3. Hopkins' 4 and 5 should be right with E-Town's 4 and 5 at 26 flat.
Susquehanna's harder to get a read on. They nipped Gettysburg on their course. They have one great low stick, maybe the best of the teams contending for the fifth spot. After that it looks like a bunch of guys who will be gunning for 25:50-26:10.
Predictions:
Dickinson 45 points [5'th guy around 25'th, but 4 in top 15] 25:05 avg
Allegheny 55 points [5'th guy around 30'th, but 3 in top 10] 25:10 avg.
CMU 70 points [5'th guy around 30'th, #2,#3 and #4 runners in 10'th-20'th place]
Haverford 100 points[5'th guy around 30'th, but close to everyone but #1 guy]
E-Town 145 points [3-5 at around 40'th place]
Johns Hopkins 150 points[5'th at around 40'th place, E-Town wins because of #1 guy, dogfight everywhere else]
Susquehanna 165 points[2-5 at 35'th to 45'th place]
Gettysburg 180 points
5 teams advance
Nice work..you put some thought into it! I say those 5-8 spots will be close to that order..but more spread out. I don't think Susquehanna or Gbg can keep it under 200.
How deep do we think the last men's individual qualifier will go? Beyond 20? Beyond 25?
i can see beyond 25th for sure this year...with 5 teams making it.
Probably around 30th I think for the men. What about the women? Should be a lot closer to top 12 or so in my opinion.
I see the qualifies going pretty deep this year. Based off 5 teams getting in and because of the quality of those teams 3-5 individuals from each of those teams being up there thats 15-25 people that are coming out. So 22nd to 32nd for the individual qualifiers, I think somewhere between 25th and 27th seems likely for that last individual.
Assuming the following teams are in, who other than those listed (in no particular order) are the top individuals in contention for nationals?
Allegheny, Dickinson, Haverford, Carnegie Mellon, Elizabethtown
Paul Thistle – Susquehanna
Chris Wasnetsky – Scranton
Tyler Newhook – Messiah
Jeffrey Smeiles – Messiah
Andrew Ferretti - DeSales
Steve Tobochnik – John Hopkins
David Sigmond – John Hopkins
Garrett Cichowitz – Grove City College
I looked at the MAC, Landmark, Centennial, PAC, and CAC the list above is what I came up with … happens to be eight guys but there should be others as well. Any thoughts?
half of those predictionsare terrible you have no idea what you are talking about
Holy sweet, 5 teams qualify for nationals this year! I remember back in my day there were only three, and I still got my ass kicked. I can't believe Dickinson is so much better than Haverford now. Based on no knowledge of Allegheny (national champions last year?), I'm going to predict an upset victory for Dickinson.
Those are the top finishers from the aforementioned conferences (MAC, Centennial, PA, CAC, Landmark) ... if half of them are terrible replace them with four or more others names.

Based on your logic I would have half an idea of what I am talking about. You can't have 'no idea' when 'half of those predictions are terrible' - that statement means half of the predictions are correct.
Either you are either joking or an idiot, either way you don't deserve a serious response

why? d'son came 2 secs from sweeping them!
I have inside information that Messiah bagged the MAC championships (and the whole season for that matter) to peak for regionals. They're going for the wim. Watch out!!
