Rita and Freiss have both turned it down.

What teh hell? DeWitt was told he didn't have the job so Brian Janssen of Idaho State?

I didn't think Freiss would bite... too much going on up north. Janssen would seem to be most logical given he's geographically the closest guy, and this late in the game the transition will be hard enough for both schools.
...but I heard Janssen wasn't getting it either... so............

Freiss is truly showing intelligence in turning down this position this late in the game and as 2nd choice....he's got two great recruits and a current team to deal with. By the time he gave notice, got down to the UM, found an "affordable apartment (in Missoula, in August?????), got familiar with his team, his staff, got unfamiliar with his young family, had to buy a house and finally had to move his family into his new house and now he gets to coach his teams??
Uhhhh, as I said already, he is a very smart man.
I'm surprised that any experienced coaches applied if UM doesn't have an indoor track. What do the athletes do in the winter. Isn't it pretty cold there?
being August now unless you go to a lot better situation than where you are at currently its a bonehead move... practice is just a few weeks away and the moving process takes about that if its more than a few hours... plus recruiting has already started for next year... these places are starting to bite themselves in the foot taking a couple months for a search.... and with the big jobs starting to hire people and more jobs to open up its going to get hectic...
montana was posted when may???? it seems like a long time ago..
dewitt is probably the only one that would be improving his situation even though his women's team is pretty good...

It was posted in EARLY April. It makes me literaly ill that the athletic dept. has played this out this long.
Freiss may be smart in the short term, but what about the long term?
This is a DI job and those are difficult to find.
Via AD: Montana hired someone yesterday.
was hired??
This is Via Jean Gee: AD
The position was filled yesterday. She did not say who was given the position.

Jean Gee is the Associate AD.
none of the four finalists were hired...the program is a mess
you think they would announce it already
so you are telling me they spent all this time and none of the finalists got the job... obviously some of them turned it down... what was the problem with dewitt or did he turn it down???
or did they go after a women?
if i was on that team, i would rather coach myself at this point....

That is a horrible attitude. Runners like you should not join teams. You should just run/train on your own. I am sure the Montana's Admin has someone in mind who could set up a solid training plan for the entire team to follow. I know that CC/track is considered an individual sport, but in college you are on a team and in order to have good team unity in order for all to succeed. Running on a team allows teammates to push, encourage and help each other to better performances than could be done individually.
I heard today they hired a local high school coach (guy) for an interim position
