That shouldn't be even up for debate. It's basically guaranteed that the top-3, or more, over any distance are doped. Otherwise, a similarly talented doper would take their place.
One incredible performance every week. The sport is quite a circus. The former head of WADA has effectively conceded that when he says antidoping is "ineffective".
I do not think Lutkehaus is doping, or the 800M womens runner, these marks dirty then are 43 years old? They should have been passed anyway by now. Women's 800M running is soft compared to every other event, and has been for decades.
Have to admit...Keely fan, but I did love the shoulder brush by Werro as she came through and Keely face was like -- WHAAAAT. Really good race. I actually think they are both great and should make for a killer rivalry. Werro really looks like she has grown into herself and def. looked more relaxed that last 300.
I wouldnt worry about it. I just assume literally everyone is on something at the top,no matter where they come from.It saves time, and suspicion. Ive noticed a lot of people have the attitude " everyone else is doping, but no one from my country does " . Its all a bit naive.Where i differ from you,is you care very deeply, and you want a clean sport, whereas i know that cant ever happen.
I just watched it - the first lap, she looked more comfortable than Keely. Speed reserve is the forgotten training focus over 800 (and 400).
I don’t think Keely looked comfortable all the way through. Whereas Werro looked relaxed.
I’m trying to figure out why. Too fast a first 100m? I know Werro’s 400m time is quicker so maybe the faster start doesn’t affect her as much. Was Keely tired from the 400m? Shouldn’t have been really. Or is she timing a London peak and has more to give?
Keely made the mistake of going too soon at 300m to go. And that wiped her out for the last 100m.
Wonder what her tactics will be next time with Werro?
KH said after the race they've been working more on the 400 up to now in the outdoor season and they are only just shifting to focus on the 800. This was her first 800 since world indoors. Painter and Meadows always seem to know exactly where their athletes are in terms of performance, they even said last year that they thought Hunter-Bell might beat KH in Tokyo. So I expect improvement by the London DL, but you would say the same for Werro and right now, she has to be in the race as well if organisers are serious about a WR. I can't see the WR going down if someone has to run solo for 250m
What did I do? I simply disagreed,,nothing else, , certainly did not cry out for deletion of your post. Nobody thinks doping is okay, at least I don't..I also certainly do think that Women's 800M running is and has been soft for decades. A mark 43 years ago presumed to be dirty? Should have gone down now by accident. Why would that mark be so sacred or out there? Guys like you..like you, NOT you, trash every great mark to doping, shoes, tracks.. Marks should be waaaaay better in everything 40+ years later and most them are or were. I think a "right" and motivated Mu would have run faster than both of these women by now if extremely motivated and enjoyed the sport. I do not think she ever did.
She improved to a time (1:55) that was really good but not beyond the bounds of what other non-PED using, no-DSD women have run. Werro just improved by nearly 2 seconds to a time that puts her in a line with renowned dopers. That's the difference
In the era sodium bicarbonate and it's particular benefit for 800 runners, the old way viewing past eras in comparison to today has shifted. The steroid era of Kratochvilova and the DSD era of Semenya are now within reasonable reach. Hodgkinson in particular has been very public in admitting how much it improves her performance that to ignore Bicarb's effect on modern marks since 2024 is to bury your head in the sand. Keely is great, but there are going to be others like Werro making breakthroughs that seem historical or "generational"...but are actually just the new normal.

I don't think like you, but that's fine. Too many like you, not necessarily you, do not allow for any improvements that stomp out their old favorites records. It should be happening logically.
1. There are waaaay more people in the world
2. Even excluding drugs....improvements in training for every event have been found out.
3. I can tell you for a fact, that guys in the late 70's into the 90's and some casualties even now, partied quite a bit.
If you do today? All the talent in the world will not save you. Folks will rip your heart out.
Watch the NBA finals tonite, I don't like the game itself better, but you could not possibly argue except for a few outliers historically, that todays' athletes in the game are not overall,,far superior. There were obvious exceptions who transcend any and all eras, but overall? Not even close up and down.
Just like Hs'ers breaking 4:00, with pacers, deep deep fields, we should have 5-8 kids a year under 4 or close. Just look at the law of larges #s, 70's to now? almost 100M+ more people. Since 1976 , 50 years ago. Thats one country. do the math.

I believe super spikes, wave lights and faster more bouncy tracks have made a difference. Maybe better nutrition as well, although thats debatable.I dont have any old favourites. What i will say is drugs or not,to get to a very high level you have to be ridiculously talented, and dedicated. The best of the best. Lots of people cry 'doper' but they forget the athlete has to be a great talent to get there,in the first place. I admire their dedication.

What happened to Armstrong? I don't agree with him, but was that worth a ban and delete?

ngl, the moderation on this board is getting rindonculous. I've seen his posts and disagreed, but they're fine to stay up. It's not reddit for god's sake.
Kratochvílová record is primed to fall. Now that there's a true battle and legit competition between at least 2 women (Werro and Hodgkindson), they will push each other every time they race — this is the purest way for the record to fall — neither one watching the clock, per se, just wanting to beat the other. This has been the missing piece over the years — a single elite woman, but no real competition. It's a new day...and exciting new day!
Agreed. It was the competition between the two of them that pushed them both to new PBs and NRs last night. Looking forward to more competitive races between them this year, especially adding in Bol and Hunter-Bell and Odira as well, to see how they all push each other and who comes out on top. If the record can be broken, and if so, who gets it.

Yes I’m kind of hoping this is the case. And it did look like the speed endurance wasn’t there.
Looks like they are timing her peak obviously for London. Is Werro running London or don’t we know yet?
Keely is also very consistent. Werro has improved but this is a big step up from her indoor pace. Be interesting to see if she can repeat this and show consistency.

I like armstrong. He's hilarious, and calls it as he sees it. He's easily the best known user on here, and the most memorable. I dont always agree with him either, but letsrun would be a lot more dull if he wasnt here.
Agreed. Censorship is very corrosive. It destroys value and informative debate. It also undermines frank presentation of opinions. In this ridiculous woke world we need a return to more fundamental concepts of free speech recognizing that the board mods are not color-of-state actors and therefore not beholden to the First Amendment.
armstrong is like many posters on this board, I often disagree but so what? Bring back vento^^ and let's be entertained by his analysis of the AW/KH duel in Stockholm!
