The Trials and Tribulations of Running YouTubers

Ya anythings fine for everyday use, but it's the edge cases that make the difference. How do they perform around tall buildings or heavy cloud cover? How fast does it react to your pace changes? How fast does it sync under various conditions, or if you're in a new location? Those are what I notice the most difference with when comparing my old 10 year old Garmin with my "new" 4 year old Garmin. My new watch is just a much less frustrating experience for those reasons.

And ya unfortunately the expensive modes would be a better comparison cause Garmin doesn't just put all the up-to-date GPS tech in every watch. Even though Multi-Band GPS was introduced a generation before the 165, it's not in the 165 because Garmin wants you to buy a more expensive watch with more features no one cares about.

All of this. Also, Peg 41s are also the perfect travel shoe. Highly jean/shortsable, mine must have another 100km of walking in them from holidays, on top of the 600-or-so km from running and they feel just as comfy as the day I bought them. Plus running heritage that few other shoes can boast. Those fools don’t have a clue.

If he tries to go for the sub 3 he will bonk badly before he knows it, at 32km he finally realises that the Ranna training plan was garbage and Tanya pace strategy was even worse, but they got him a bib so he now needs to plod till the end, where a fresh lucozade and a warm protein pouch will be waiting for him, so he can refuel and rethink of how silly he was for pretending he had a sub 3 in him.

Grose could turn into the most obnoxious YouTuber of all time and I’d still vouch for him due to his services to running in the form of RunBritainRankings and PowerOf10. Plus the parkrun difficulty index stuff. Since his involvement there ended they have gone to the absolute dogs. He created something better there than anything the likes of Fenton, Fox of Truett could come close to.

Tim - please consider setting up a new RunBritainRankings to rival the now ruined PO10 and include parkruns. Genuinely think lots of people would pay to use it. The new site is so trash

A thoroughly good bloke who didn't stick with training that didn't work and went with something new. Always open about his training and puts a video out quickly whether a good or bad result. I honestly think most on here, even the most bitter of us, would shed a tear to see a big PB in the marathon. Such a big guy it is a tough distance.

Love to see him have the Penistone Powerhouse John Broom or Ingrid Kristiensen on his podcast.

The dental athlete is the cesspit of run influencers. I’m looking forward for tomorrow to see so many of them being humbled by their own ego yet be frustrated by how many think the day revolves around them. Watch Mary Mcarthy make it ALL about her
